The morning brew social is a ritual that can increase social connection between you and your remote or hybrid teammates. It is a recurring 15 minute meeting where you invite your direct reports to discuss anything but work. The purpose is connection.
đź“Ť Morning Ritual Pro tips
- Make it a ritual! Host every other week on the same day and at the same time - weekly, monthly, quarterly.
- Invite your direct reports.
- Book the calendar invite for 15 minutes only. The shorter time commitment will make it easier for your people to consistently attend.
- Always end on time. This way your team knows the meeting won’t creep into a longer time.
- Ensure your team knows the purpose of this meeting is social (i.e. no need to prep work). Add the purpose “Talking about anything but work!” to the calendar invite.
- Make notes of important topics that come up (i.e. birthday, spouse’s name, pets) so you can follow up or celebrate your people in a personalized way.
đź“– Ritual Agenda
- Share the question beforehand in Slack/Teams so your introverts and think-to-talkers have time to prepare
- Post the question in the chat of your meeting so it's visible
- As soon as enough folks have joined, pick someone to answer the question and select the next person to answer
- Enjoy getting to know one another!
