Who created ReviewGenie and why is it free?

ReviewGenie was developed by the good people at Tandem and The Mintable. Our customers told us about the pain performance reviews cause for managers. This can mean less headspace and energy to focus on what matters most - helping employees learn and grow.

We believe everyone deserves a quality review so we decided to make ReviewGenie free and available for all.

Is it cheating to use AI for reviews?

Absolutely not. ReviewGenie helps you create a first draft that's based on your input. You can also modify the content before sharing it.

We recommend using the time saved on your first draft to plan how best to support each direct report moving forward.

Bottom line: you’re in control all the time. It’s you, just faster and better.

Why not just use Chat-GPT?

We’ve trained our AI against specific best practice frameworks and professional language to provide feedback that is actionable and removes bias. You get a draft review in a gold standard structure.

How do you promote fair and unbiased reviews?

First, we help managers calibrate on what's relevant to the role and level of seniority of their employees by providing Performance Attributes. We provide detailed expectations for each Performance Attribute to help managers fairly assess their employee's performance. We also ask users to provide specific examples for clearer feedback.

Next, we use best practice frameworks to generate the draft review. Whilst we can't control for missing data, the AI fairly synthesizes the inputs and prioritizes data with clear examples. We collect pronouns to format the draft review; however, this data is not used as an input to the generation of the review.
